The Naniwa Professional (Chosera) P-310 #1000 is widely regarded as a benchmark stone in the #1000-grit category and is often used as a reference point when evaluating other medium-grit whetstones. It is finely balanced, producing a crisp, clean edge while remaining smooth and controlled during sharpening. Feedback is clear and immediate, making edge development easy to track. The stone wears at a controlled rate and resists glazing, maintaining consistent performance over time. Its hardness sits on the firmer side, though it is less rigid than ceramic-bonded alternatives.
Grit Comparison Context
Compared to lower-grit options in the Naniwa Professional range, the #1000 offers a more refined feel and greater forgiveness at the edge. While coarser stones emphasise raw speed and aggression, this stone focuses on control, edge clarity, and consistency. It is especially well suited to users who value precision and comfort during sharpening, and it remains one of the easiest stones in the range to learn on while still delivering professional-level results.
